Intern, Biostatistics

The biostatistics department at Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease is seeking a highly motivated intern with educational experience in biostatistics, statistics or related quantitative science.  This intern will work with one or multiple senior level statisticians on research projects that are closely related to clinical trials. They will also have the opportunity to be exposed to the drug development process.

The goal of the internship program is to develop a seamless 2-in-1 Phase 2/3 trial design framework with dose selection, including discussion on criteria to select a dose arm, criteria of going to Phase 3, optimal time of interim analysis and using different endpoint at interim analysis and Phase 3 stage. In practice, one challenge of adaptive design is the complex simulation work in a limited timeline.

The intern will perform a literature review for 2-in-1 adaptive design and related methods used in seamless Phase2/3 design. The intern will generalize and discuss the method to involve dose selection in 2-in-1 design, and then will conduct a simulation study to evaluate the characteristics and decision criteria of the design. The research work will be presented at the departmental seminar, and/or the company poster session,
