This position provides specialized academic support for graduate students in the School of Public Health (SPH), primarily for the Master of Public Health degree. The Academic Support Specialist is part of a team of specialists who work with educational leadership to help lead the development and implementation of educational initiatives of SPH degree programs, including mini-courses (R, SAS, Stata, etc.), and summer and extra-curricular enrichment activities (e.g. mini sessions on math or communicating quantitative information).

Additionally, this position leads the scheduling and development of lab sections for one core biostatistics course each semester (Fall + Spring), including help with hiring and supervising teaching assistants for the labs. Other duties include assisting the Office of Education & Student Services with activities related to teaching and research in public health and assisting with MPH curriculum development and admissions activities.

Finally, The academic support specialist provides individual assistance to students needing tutoring in our core quantitative courses and thesis projects by providing data analysis support and technical guidance to students.
