The Research Assistant at the Brown School of Public Health (SPH) joins a vibrant team supporting the Dean’s office and related special projects. The Research Assistant is involved in fast-paced non-laboratory research aimed at addressing key ongoing and emerging problems in public health. Current topic areas include pandemic preparedness and response, crisis communications and misinformation, health equity, climate change and health, and comparative health systems research.
The Research Assistant works closely with a mosaic of faculty and research team members of different disciplines in public health (epidemiology, health communications, health economics). The diversity of projects Dean’s RAs have exposure to makes this position a non-traditional research assistantship with varying responsibilities. While many tasks are rapid-response in nature, the work is principally project-related, including data collection, literature reviews and synthesis, drafting of reports, organization of project meetings and materials, and assistance with development of research proposals. The Research Assistant interacts with remote consultants or team members, is involved in project communications, conducts structured interviews, and develops reports and presentations. This individual works as part of a team to compile and analyze information using a variety of statistical software applications. The position also performs additional related tasks as necessary. All tasks may be performed independently and/or without direct supervision in an on- or off-site location.
