2024 Mayor’s Fellowship Program
Fellowships in the City of Providence are an exciting and creative way to get involved in the community, while also gaining valuable work experience. Interns are able to see first-hand how the City functions on a daily basis, as well as learn how long-term goals and policies are constructed. Students gain hands-on experience with City government and develop skills that will serve them well in future occupations.

Summer Mayoral Fellowships
THE FELLOWSHIP
The city’s Mayoral Fellowship program is a dynamic initiative offering undergraduate and graduate students invaluable hands-on experience within city government. This competitive program places Fellows under the direct mentorship of the city’s experienced Department Directors, immersing fellows in high-impact projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all Providence residents.

A key component of the Fellowship is the weekly ‘Lunch and Learn’ series. This weekly roundtable facilitated interaction include Mayoral staff, municipal officials, city department directors, elected Rhode Island officials, and Congressional delegation members, dedicated to public service. This platform not only provides insights into the workings of municipal, state, and federal government but also fosters relationship building amongst the fellowship cohort.

Participants of the fellowship program are expected to work 35 hours a week and are stipend at $3,000 for the entire 10-week program.

ELIGIBILITY OF APPLICANTS
If you get excited by fast-paced work environments with endless opportunities for learning, this position is for you! Prospective Fellows should be undergraduate students or students currently pursuing a graduate degree.
