Post-Doctoral Fellow in Maternal and Child Nutrition

The Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Maternal and Child Nutrition (MCN) funded by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health. This is the longest-standing training program in MCN in the United States. It brings together faculty across the disciplinary spectrum of nutrition – including molecular nutrition, human nutrition and metabolism, community nutrition, and international nutrition – to advance the nutrition and health of mothers and children.

The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree, a record of accomplishment in nutrition or related biological, public health, epidemiology, or medical field, and will be committed to a career of research in MCN. Candidates should demonstrate quantitative/qualitative research skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with collaborators. A track record of original first-author publications in nutrition from doctoral work is desirable. Note: US citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.

Research will be conducted under the supervision of one or more of the MCN training program faculty (Finkelstein; Bellows, Dickin, Hay, Hoddinott, Johnson, Leak, Lujan, Mehta, O’Brien, Odoms-Young, Rasmussen, Soloway, Strupp). Emphasis will be placed on leading original research manuscripts; career development; and transition toward independent funding and an independent research career. Opportunities are available for classroom-based training and professional development in teaching, grant writing, scientific communication, and leadership. This position is based in Ithaca, NY. This is a full-time position, renewable on an annual basis, based on performance and continuation of funding.
