Human Services Program Manager I

This position will provide leadership for specific projects/programs funded by the State’s recent historic investment in behavioral health. This position is responsible for assigned project/programs within the service system to tackle issues related to the direct support workforce.

Work includes project management, program development, policy review and development, and program implementation. The person in this position will coordinate closely with other DMHDDSUS units, including executive leadership, as well as community stakeholders, LME/MCOs, and consultants.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of mental health and/or substance use disorder delivery system
• Considerable understanding of policies, procedures and funding mechanisms of state and federal programs
• Skill in the analysis and evaluation of programs and developing/presenting reports
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff from Federal, State and local agencies, as well as the external stakeholders
• Demonstrated skill in program/project leadership
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a wide range of stakeholders
• Experience with and knowledge of direct support workforce issues preferred.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and 3 years of experience in a closely related program; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and 5 years of experience in a closely related program.

Note: Position is primarily remote; however, travel to the Raleigh office will be necessary for equipment pickup and maintenance and may be required for team meetings, training, stakeholder group meetings or other similar events. This position is intended to be full-time; however, part-time may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
