The primary purpose of this position is to manage projects and provide subject matter expertise related to mental health and substance use disorder services, funded by the State’s historic $835 million investment in behavioral health. The person in this position will develop, coordinate and manage projects in assigned area(s). They will work alongside DMHDDSUS leaders to implement the strategic vision. They will assist in the development of program standards and performance requirements. They will serve as a liaison with other state agencies, service providers, advocacy groups and other stakeholders to enhance services in assigned area(s). The person in this position may be responsible for conducting research, identifying emerging trends in evidence-based and best practices, participating in data collection and/or analysis, and providing training and technical assistance to providers.

Projects and assigned areas may include mental health and substance use disorder crisis services, behavioral health initiatives for individuals who are justice involved, work force development, peer supports, and child residential services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of publicly funded behavioral health services and supports.
  • Working knowledge of program objectives, standards, and rules in area(s) of assignment.
  • Ability to participate in program planning and evaluation.
  • Ability to design and present training and to provide technical assistance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other state agencies, providers of services, advocacy groups and other organizations.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
