The mission of the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is to monitor the Massachusetts health care system and to provide reliable information and meaningful analysis for those seeking to improve the health care system. CHIA also acts as a principal repository for health care data collected by the state and is responsible for key data assets such as the Massachusetts All-Payer Claims Database and the Massachusetts Acute Hospital Case Mix Databases.

CHIA’s Strategy and Research Unit is currently seeking a graduate-level research intern. This is a temporary part-time position. The intern will be expected to work approximately 8 to 10 hours per week remotely from within the US or in the Boston office of Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. The start and end dates are flexible, but ideally would start by January 2023 and last for a minimum of six months.

The research intern will provide analytical and programming assistance for projects focused on health care equity issues, analyzing data on access, affordability, utilization, and quality in MA. Applicants should be current graduate students or recent graduates of quantitative-oriented degree programs with substantive prior experience working with data and the ability to clearly communicate results to diverse audiences. The successful candidate will communicate proactively, work both independently and collaboratively, have excellent attention to detail, and aspire for continuous learning and professional development.
