The Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (MDPH/DPH) Office of Problem Gambling Services (OPGS) is leading the public health response to the expansion of gambling in the Commonwealth and is expected to see continued growth and expansion in the next few years. Within MDPH, the Office of Problem Gambling Services ensures a comprehensive and integrated public health response to problem gambling by using data to inform initiatives, engage communities, and ensure cultural intelligence and humility. Critical to the work of MDPH and OPGS is data, the social determinants of health, with a vision of eradicating health disparities. The collective effort in leading a public health response centered on our values is unprecedented in the field of gambling.

The Office is seeking a mission-driven candidate who understands and values a community-centered approach to program planning, development, and implementation to serve the communities and programs in the eastern region of the state. The central focus of this work is using a community-driven approach to nurture, enhance, collaborate, and sustain strong relationships with community partners. The community’s input is the foundation that informs and continually improves programming and OPGS’ efforts to mitigate the harms associated with problem gambling.

The Regional Program Coordinator position is instrumental to the Office’s work. The Regional Coordinator will work to advance and expand new and existing OPGS programming through a community-driven approach that focuses on health and racial equity. The Regional Coordinator will foster, enhance, and sustain strong relationships with community partners. Utilizing best practices that embed a health and racial equity lens, coupled with a community-centered approach, the Regional Coordinator supports DPH-funded community-based organizations in the development and implementation of community programs; improvement and deployment of resources; and assisting with organizational infrastructure and capacity building.
