The Community Health Specialist (CHS) in the Office of Community Affairs at Montefiore Einstein will primarily support and seek to expand the current portfolio of community outreach and engagement programs across the health system, while providing administrative support to the team to push projects forward. The CHS will focus on community outreach and engagement efforts, assisting with the coordination of Montefiore Einstein resources at events. The home office is located near the Moses campus. Our efforts support the outreach and engagement in communities across the entire health system, spanning from the Bronx to Nyack.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or at least 2+ years of experience in community outreach and engagement
  • 2+ years experience in non-profit health systems and/or project management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 360
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently
  • Ability to use project management skills to plan ahead for upcoming deadlines
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Job Duties:

  • Support the current portfolio of the Office of Community Affairs by interacting with partners, internal, external, and local elected officials, to maximize our efforts
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of health events and sports programs, and others promoting “healthy living” objectives and outcomes
  • Attend and represent Montefiore Einstein at events and meetings sponsored by the health system
  • Provide administrative support on the four Community Advisory Boards managed by Community Affairs
  • Manage the Dennis Gardner Community Relations Team Resource Guide project, aiming to build a network of internal partners at Montefiore Einstein
  • Maintain the efforts of the Community Enrichment Blueprint by collaborating with internal partners who support the efforts of local small businesses.
  • Communicate with the community, elected officials’, internal and external partners, and new connections through the Community Affairs Email
  • Attend all meetings and planning workshops as needed.
    In addition, the CHS will provide support for other projects within the Office of Community Affairs’ portfolio as needed.
