The position will be responsible for managing the Beaches/Recreational Waters program and the Climate & Health program. Beach-related duties include but are not limited to: overseeing RIDOH salt- and fresh-water sampling throughout the beach season; collecting and analyzing data from samples on a daily basis; determining which beaches should be subject to public health advisories and which advisories are no longer needed; coordinating messaging with Communications, Web Team, and leadership; managing all grants and funds related to salt- and fresh-water beach monitoring; submitting required data and reports to all grant funders and RIDOH on a regular basis. Climate-related duties include but are not limited to: planning and performing outreach, education and communication regarding climate resiliency through a wide variety of media including live presentations, print and graphics, social media, and press releases; representing RIDOH on various committees regarding the environment and climate resiliency at that national, state, and local levels including the Executive Climate Change Coordinating Council (EC4); seeking and managing climate-specific funds and grants.
