Global Health Research Analyst

The Center for Global Health at Weill Cornell Medicine seeks an enthusiastic and independent research analyst, with a minimum of Master’s level training in epidemiology and or biostatistics, with 2-3 years work experience, to join our team. Our research focuses on cardiovascular disease and infectious diseases in Haiti, Tanzania, and India. Our work includes studies in clinical epidemiology, clinical trials, and implementation science. The research analyst will report to Dr. Molly McNairy, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Weill Cornell Center for Global Health, and work with a team of research staff, students, fellows, and faculty in New York and at our international sites. The analyst will be responsible for preparing, developing and managing observational and clinical trial databases, developing and managing datasets, data analysis, quality assurance activities, and data visualization. The analyst will support these data activities for manuscripts, grant submissions, and programmatic needs. Ability to work independently, problem-solve data management issues, learn new data analytic skills, and communicate clearly is key.

Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision and in collaboration with clinicians and research faculty, conduct database and dataset design and management, including uploading and extracting data, cleaning large data sets with clinical, imaging, and laboratory data
  • Provide statistical expertise in analyzing data. Executes analytical plans using statistical software and report results to investigators and collaborators. Performs intermediate to expert level statistical queries, analyses, and evaluation. Includes: summary statistics, multivariable regression models, mixed effects models, survival curves, among others.
  • Verify data integrity and data quality assurance including logic checks, missing data reports, and communication of these data to the field teams
  • Organize and harmonize statistical code across multiple projects, create and manage github repository
  • Contributes to written sections for IRB applications, grant applications, and manuscripts for assigned projects
  • Data visualization of figures and images for data dissemination
  • Prepares reports for leadership that effectively communicates trends, patterns, and other relevant findings
  • Mentor and train students, research assistants and international colleague in data collection, management and analysis conjunction with Dr. McNairy

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research or a relevant field of study. Medical training is major plus.
  • Work experience and/or research experience in large-scale data management, data analyses, and data visualization is highly desirable. Ideally 2-3 years of prior work experience in research
  • Experience working on manuscripts, quantitative data analysis including inferential statistics
  • Complete proficiency in R.
  • Knowledge of appropriate statistical analysis for clinical research studies
  • Willingness to travel to international sites (approximately 1-3 trips per year, COVID allowing)
  • Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven track record of working both independently and in teams
  • Excellent organizational skills for project management, time management skills and the ability to manage several concurrent tasks
  • Needs work authorization for the US (unfortunately Center for Global Health is not able to provide work sponsorship at this time)

Preferred qualifications

  • Research publication history (2 or more papers preferred, but abstract/posters will be accepted)
  • Previous experience supervising junior staff or students on research projects
  • Interest in global health and/or chronic disease research
